Upcoming Event: Foodbank Fundraiser
Nepal – meet our intrepid fundraising trekkers
In November two intrepid trekkers are walking to the base camp of Everest on behalf of the North Ayrshire Foodbank and its childrens work – tackling child hunger during holiday periods. The evening will start with a sample of Nepalese food provided by the Ayrshire Sikh Association. This is followed by a talk from Miriam Hall and her husband Peter who will both be walking through Nepal to get to base camp. They will describe the country and the route to be taken. To cap the evening the film club will be showing the film “Everest” (Certificate 12) with the storyline being “On the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers from two commercial expeditions start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds”.
